Storage bags are an essential tool for modern home organization. Their core function is to reduce the space occupied by clothing, bedding, and other items through vacuum sealing, and to provide moisture, mildew, and dust protection through the physical barrier properties of the material. When purchasing, simply comparing brands or prices is not the key. Instead, you should accurately select the bag's thickness based on the specific characteristics of the items you plan to store, as this directly affects storage effectiveness and the safety of your belongings.

The thickness of storage bags commonly found on the market is generally measured in "mil" (1 mil = 0.01 mm). Bags with a thickness of 6-8 mil (0.06-0.08 mm) are typically considered general-purpose and economical, suitable for storing seasonal cotton clothing, thin blankets, or wrinkle-resistant synthetic fabrics. These bags offer good flexibility and are relatively inexpensive, but their protective capabilities are limited for items requiring long-term storage or those with a rigid structure.

For heavy winter down jackets, wool blankets, cashmere products, or precious textiles that require long-term sealed storage, it is recommended to choose thicker products with a thickness of 9-12 mils (0.09-0.12mm) or more. Thicker materials offer stronger puncture resistance and gas barrier properties, more effectively preventing the penetration of external moisture. Furthermore, when storing irregularly shaped items such as children's toys and fluffy pillows that require strong compression, thicker sizes provide better support and sealing.

Therefore, when purchasing moisture-proof vacuum storage bags, users should first assess the material, weight, shape of the items to be stored, and the planned storage duration. For short-term, lightweight, and soft items, a standard thickness is sufficient; however, for long-term, heavy items with rigid components or high-value items, investing in thicker products is a more prudent choice, fundamentally ensuring storage efficiency and the integrity of the items.
